A nursing home with a focus on quality of life

Hattstugan is a small, private nursing home on eastern Gotland – a idyllic Swedish island surrounded by the Baltic Sea. We offer residential care for people with dementia. Our apartments are located in a beautiful and rural environment with proximity to beaches, a grocery store, a bakery and a market garden.

Our care

Hattstugan’s care and welfare is characterised by closeness, respect and consideration. Through person-centred care, we create security and meaning in everyday life. Every day is shaped based on the individual’s needs, habits and wishes to provide a meaningful and dignified life.

Support to relatives

Contact and support for relatives is a natural and valued part of our work. We maintain close and continuous dialogue with residents’ families, offering guidance, reassurance, and collaboration. We are always available to listen and provide support for as long as needs and wishes remain.

Working methods

We put residents’ needs first, providing personalised care based on experience and proven methods. Activities like singing, walking, and dancing promote joy and wellbeing. Reminiscence therapy and tactile massage support communication, relaxation, and overall quality of life.

A day at Hattstugan

The morning begins in peace and harmony, at a pace that suits everyone. With safe routines, security and peace are created – perhaps with a quiet moment when the day’s newspaper is retrieved from the mailbox. An everyday life where small actions bring joy and meaning.

Daily activites

Small excursions and everyday errands provide variety and quality of life. Our own bus gives us the opportunity to visit cafes, farm shops, log dances and other activities. Running errands or shopping at the local grocery store creates recognition, participation and a sense of connection in everyday life.

Home-cooked food

We cook our own food from scratch and buy ingredients from the local grocery store and market garden. We serve home-cooked, nutritious dishes that whet your appetite and give you energy. Mealtime is an important part of the day, and we strive to eat together to create community.

Our services

We support our residents in everything that goes with everyday life, from personal care to practical tasks. We accompany them on visits to the health center and help with local errands. We are also responsible for laundry and ensure that each home is kept pleasant and clean.

At Hattstugan, we meet every person with presence and consideration. When we get to know both residents and relatives, we create a safe, familiar everyday life where everyone feels seen.
